This study contains whole genome shotgun Illumina paired short-read sequence data derived from a collection of 138 Eucalyptus globulus Labill. (Tasmanian Blue Gum) trees. The individual trees are first generation progeny derived from native forest mother trees collected from across the distribution range of the species. The sampled trees were grown in a common garden field trial planted in 1989 and located in Northern Tasmania. E. globulus is a native species to South Eastern Australia occurring in Southern Victoria and Tasmania in Australia in a number of disjunct populations. E. globulus is an important dominant forest canopy tree that provides habitat for many native Australian animals including the endangered Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolor) and is the world's most important temperate plantation species prized for its fibre which is amongst the best in the world for kraft pulp and paper manufacture
